Flydah Mdhluli, Caterer and Beadworker - South Africa

Flydah has done an exceptional job growing her business from just selling soft drinks from her home to now operating three different businesses! She exports beautiful beadwork and even has a contract for training prisoners to do the same; she has a very busy catering business; and, she now operates the “Tuck Shop” seen in this picture, where she and her 10+-member staff serve 2,000 students a day at the Mamelodi Technical College. Flydah has trained other women in the church in the beadwork business, thereby enabling them to start their own businesses. She has successfully employed two young men at her tuck shop who are mentally handicapped. Her efforts and success led her to being one of three recipients of the Lydia Awards, given by PEER Servants to recognize the most exceptional entrepreneurs.
