Walk for Economic Empowerment Lake Quannopowitt – Wakefield, Massachusetts Saturday, September 27, 2008
The 2008 Walk for Economic Empowerment is going to be a festive event that offers you the opportunity to positively impact the materially poor of our world. Almost half of our world lives on $2 or less each day and micro-enterprise development is one of the most efficient, effective means of empowering the materially poor. Through micro-enterprise development, the materially poor can have access to small amounts of loan capital (often not exceeding $200 initially) and basic business training and start a small business that can provide for themselves, their families, their churches, and their communities. 100% of the proceeds of the Walk for Economic Empowerment are going to provide loan capital to one of PEER Servants’ 10 MED partners in Africa, Asia, Eurasia, or Latin America. We took our "first steps" with our 2006 and 2007 Walks for Economic Empowerment -- the 2008 Walk will be the next chapter in establishing this event as a major initiative in raising awareness and funds for this very worthy cause.
