No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:37 (NIV)
Both Jesus and Paul knew that extending the kingdom of heaven to earth wasn’t going to be easy. It would take conquerors – in fact, more than conquerors – to be up to the task. This passage provides three insights on how we can be “more than conquerors”. First, we can never forget Paul’s words just before these: If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31b, NIV) God has gone before us – the opposition doesn’t stand a chance! Second, we can never forget that “we” are more than conquerors. Extending the kingdom of heaven to earth will not happen if we try to go it alone – it will take working together in global partnership. Third, we can never forget that we are more than conquerors “through him who loved us.” It is God’s power that gives us such strength, and as Paul writes immediately after this verse, it is God’s inseparable love that propels us forward on our kingdom mission.
We are seized to be more than conquerors!
