JED is now SALT
We’re very excited to announce the name change, staff growth, and program expansion of our South Sudanese partner! Joint Effort for Development (JED) has now become Special Action for Life Transformation (SALT). It’s much more than a name change. What started as a program providing vocational training to South Sudanese single mother refugees is now providing micro-loans to support those refugees in establishing small businesses while offering PEER Teens South Sudan as a youth empowerment program to engage the young people in extending the kingdom. SALT is in the process of choosing their first PEER Teens Scholars and will provide them with university scholarships and encouragement along the way. Their all-women staff has now grown to four associates with the addition of Mercy (upper left, new Executive Director) and Charity (lower left, Front Desk Manager) joining Florence (upper right, Programs Officer) and Racheal (lower left, Field Officer). While SALT remains based in Arua, Uganda working among refugees for now, they look forward to the day when they will be able to return to a peaceful South Sudan.
