Seized to Be A Closet Pray-er
Key Verse
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen…”
Matthew 6:6a (NIV)
Short Reflection
The Christian film titled, The War Room, tells the story of Miss Clara, a widow who is selling her home. She describes to the realtor that the closet off of her bedroom is called the War Room, and states that “In order to stand up and fight the enemy, you need to get on your knees and pray.”
As we enter the season of Advent, it is an opportunity for us to draw near to GOD through prayer, and to pray for GOD to do some new work in us as we begin a new year on the Christian calendar.
The microfinance partners of PEER Servants provide entrepreneurship training to small business owners receiving micro loans. One of the entrepreneurship lessons that they teach them is the importance of getting a good return on their investment.
Similarly, GOD is hoping to have a good return on His investment in each of us. He has given His Son to pay the punishment, i.e. death, for our sin. But, the miraculous part is that GOD still wants to be in relationship with us, and He still loves us. The fact that GOD calls us to prayer is proof that He is not at all done with us, but He wants a good return on His investment, and is calling us to be in continuous prayer and relationship with Him.
Jesus has seized you to be a closet pray-er!
