May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:5-6 (NIV)
Unity is one component which is very critical in the body of Christ. The body of Christ being big and one is composed of different people from different backgrounds – rich, poor, strong and weak. Unity can be very difficult to achieve with our own wisdom and understanding. Praise be to God, this is not the case for those who are in Christ Jesus.
In his letter, Paul has given us hope, prayers and encouragement in how we can achieve this unity as Christians.
God is the one who gives the spirit of unity to His people. To accept Jesus Christ as our Savior means to accept Him in all areas of Christian life and to accept all Christians. Unity brings blessings (Psalm 133:1-3).
As we grow in faith and know Jesus better, this unity and love will also grow in us because we are one. The spirit of unity among Christians enables them to follow Christ and praise God together.
May God unify us in Jesus Christ, both the weaker and stronger brethren.
Lord, let this reader and I be “All for One”, and of those unity seeds we need to plant to answer Your prayer, may we remember that we need to accept what You so generously give to us.
