The Path to Perfect Peace – Enjoy Christ’s Fullness: Costly Peace

Key Verse

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Colossians 1:19-20 (NIV)

Short Reflection

We are astounded as we celebrate Jesus whose name is ‘the only name under heaven’ by which we can be saved! (Acts 4:12). Our hearts ‘dance before the Lord’, like David’s did when the Ark was brought back to Jerusalem. This great one-time event, Jesus’ shed blood, destroyed ‘the dividing wall’ (Ephesians 2:14) between us and the righteous and holy God.

Paul wanted the Colossian church, and us, to understand that there is no other name by which we can be saved. We embrace this truth again, and freshly understand the peace Jesus has achieved for us with God. Through his fullness and shed blood, we have peace with our holy God, and with our fellow humans.

Stay with me as together we celebrate Jesus – this fully God and fully human, Jesus – the Peacemaker, who through his shed blood has:

·       called us, who were lost, to be found and made whole in Him

·       reconciled us to a Holy God by destroying the dividing wall by his shed blood

·       removed our filthy clothes, providing robes of righteousness to wear through his resurrection power and, enabling us to walk in, and extend peace to, others

·       given vision by which we can sing the song of the Lamb, whose ‘righteous acts have been revealed’ (Revelation 15:4b).

Hallelujah, what a Saviour!
