The Path to Perfect Peace – Persevere Under Pressure: In Jesus

Key Verse

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 (NIV)

Short Reflection

They are just four letters in our Key Verse, but they are the difference between peace and the lack thereof. What are those four letters? “in me”

We’ve come a long way this year on this Path to Perfect Peace. Perhaps the biggest lesson that we have learned is that peace, Perfect Peace, comes not from a set of circumstances, but from the presence of God.

Here is Jesus. He’s been talking with His disciples for a while. He doesn’t have that much longer to be with them before He is taken away and nailed to a cross. He chooses His words wisely because He knows what lies ahead for these disciples. Anything but a peaceful set of circumstances! In fact, Jesus assures them they will have trouble. He longs that, despite the trouble ahead, they experience peace.

Jesus makes the message as simple as it can be. The only place these disciples will find real peace in in Him. In Jesus.

It is the same for you and me today. You may be under tremendous amounts of pressure and looking everywhere but Jesus for your peace. You will only find peace in Jesus. And in Jesus you will be able to persevere in the midst of your pressure along your Path to Perfect Peace.

Remember – Jesus has overcome the world. That’s a great reason to “take heart”.

This is the first in the “Persevere Under Pressure” series of blog posts. Future posts in the weeks to come will come via Singapore, South Sudan, and Australia.
