The Path to Perfect Peace – Act with Justice: Nothing
Key Verse
If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
James 2:16 (NIV)
Short Reflection
Nothing. It seems unfathomable that one would do nothing. But such must have been fathomable for the writer of Hebrews to write it.
Chances are, if you’re on the PEER Servants website and have stumbled on this part of the site, you are doing something, and probably something pretty significant. If so, thank you so much.
Could you be the person that the writer of Hebrews had in mind? Have you given much thought or mind to the extremely materially poor in our world? Many of those who now give very generously through PEER Servants to empower the materially poor admit that there was a day when they did nothing, or next to nothing, to help the poor. Then they started to notice how the Bible expressed time and time again how concerned God was about the poor and how He called those who claimed to be followers of His Son to do something. And something pretty significant.
If you identify yourself as a follower of Jesus, nothing is not an option. There are many excellent organizations out there effectively empowering the materially poor. It doesn’t have to be PEER Servants, but it’s time to do something.
This is the second in the “Act with Justice” series of blog posts.
