Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
We’ve been given a very ambitious mission – to extend the kingdom of heaven to earth. At PEER Servants, we want to do that so effectively that we will see “palpable kingdom presence” in the regions in which we serve. That won’t come easy. In fact, Jesus knew that it would take people willing to give up everything – i.e., disciples. It becomes “Mission Possible” with one fantastic reality – all authority is subject to Jesus.
Do our lives reflect the reality that all authority is subject to Jesus? If they did, wouldn’t we be a bit more focused on pursuing something as seemingly impossible as extending the kingdom of heaven to earth? And wouldn’t we do it with more of the Perfect Peace that He longs for us to experience?
In the days ahead, we will celebrate Easter. The Resurrection shows us, more than any other event, that all authority is subject to Jesus. We have access to that same resurrection power today and we must fully embrace it if we are ever going to establish “palpable kingdom presence” in the regions in which we serve. Let’s go and make disciples.
This is the third in the “Encourage and Support True Disciple Making” series of blog posts on our Journey to Palpable Kingdom Presence.
