But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15 (NIV)
Our vision at PEER Servants is to see “palpable kingdom presence” in the regions in which our Global Partners work. That seems like a lofty goal, and perhaps it is. The only way we will see “palpable kingdom presence” at a regional level is if we see it in much smaller units within the society, and the family is the most critical unit within that society.
Does the kingdom of heaven reign in your household? Can you join Joshua in stating that “as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord”? Lots of bad things happen when we don’t have households wherein the kingdom reigns – arguably much of our current world instability is attributable to a key leader or two who didn’t grow up in a positive household. Take it a step further – is your household extending the kingdom of heaven beyond your household? The only way we are going to see “palpable kingdom presence” at the regional level is if we have households within which the kingdom reigns and from which the kingdom is extended.
Let’s go “serve the Lord” in and through our families.
This is the first in the “Strengthen the Family Unit” series of blog posts on our Journey to Palpable Kingdom Presence.
