Mission Possible – Steward and Share Resources: Stewardship

Key Verse

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;

Psalm 24:1 (NIV)

Short Reflection

Today we will learn about “Stewardship”.

To begin, we want to share with you that at Potter’s House (PHA), through the study of the Bible, we have learned that who we are, those around us, the material things we have, the creation (heaven and earth), all of that belongs to God. Stewardship is one of the biblical principles that govern PHA. For us, stewardship is another perspective of life that affects our decisions of our existence, the way to see those around us and who we serve, and the resources we have in our hands.

The care of my integral being, a first part is due to self- love and appreciation of who I am, but also a responsibility, because my being belongs to God and has purpose. In Ephesians 2:10 it says that “we are God’s masterpiece and He created us to do the good things He has prepared for us”.

In addition, the people who are around me are God’s creation, therefore, I owe them respect and care as it says in Galatians 5:14 “Love my neighbor as myself”.

Once that I have clear that I am from God, and so the material blessings that I have in my hand are thanks to His love; then, I am really sharing, not what is mine, but what I have received from God. As David said in 1 Chronicles 29:13,14 “… All that we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!”

Also, as we learn in Psalm 24: 1 “The heavens and the earth belong to God”. God asked you and me to manage them wisely (Genesis 1:28).

This is another perspective of life! Don’t you think? How does this way of thinking change the way you treat yourself and others? How does this change the way you use the resources around you and in your hands?

This is the second in the “Steward and Share the Resources” series of blog posts on our Journey to Palpable Kingdom Presence and is prepared by Margarita and Hector Rivas from Potter’s House, our Guatemalan partner.
