The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10 (NIV)
We’re really passionate about ensuring a high-quality education for all who want to pursue it as a critical factor on our journey to “Palpable Kingdom Presence”. Simply put, a good education not only changes the life of the individual being educated, but the life of that person’s family and countless others who will be impacted by that individual’s life.
That’s why we support our Global Partners as they offer high-quality education to tribal students (often the first in their families to get a formal education), university scholarships to promising servant leaders, and teacher certificate scholarships to young women so that we can cast a vision for how important it is to educate girls and boys.
These efforts to educate many are commendable, but they fall far short of what they could achieve if they miss the right mark from the beginning. That beginning is the fear of the Lord. Our Key Verse reminds us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom – Proverbs 1:7 reminds us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Having a right relationship with our Infinite Creator just opens up our minds to seeing the world in a much grander way. As we gain knowledge through a good education, we will then apply it in such a way that others are blessed rather than becoming “puffed up”. That’s what we are observing among those tribal students, university grads, and new teachers – a desire to take what they have learned and use it to serve others.
This is the first in the “Ensure Quality Education for All” series of blog posts on our Journey to Palpable Kingdom Presence.
