The Walk is ON – Rain or Shine!
Bostonians know our Saturdays have been very moist this Spring – Saturday morning, June 14, may not be an exception! But if it’s an opportunity to extend more of the kingdom of heaven to earth, then if Hollywood can sing in the rain, we can walk in the rain! (By the time we’re walking, the weather people are expecting the rain to taper off.)
One of our biggest days of the year – our annual Walk for Global Empowerment – is here! It’s a crowdfunding event with the goal of raising $250,000 to invest in the global materially poor through programs in microfinance, education, youth empowerment, healthcare, and food/water security. Please join us in person if you can, and if time or place doesn’t allow that, please consider supporting one of our Teams and/or Walkers through this link. All (100%) of your donation will go to your desired cause and PEER Servants will send you a tax receipt.
Here’s some helpful Walk info…
- Venue: The Wakefield (Massachusetts) Gazebo and Park next to First Congregational Church (1 Church Street, Wakefield, MA). If you go there and don’t see us, it only means the heavier rain stuck around longer than expected and we have moved to our PEER Servants office (591 North Avenue, Door 2 in Wakefield) just down the road.
- Time: Walk Registration starts at 9:30 am. We’ll welcome you with Honey Dew coffee and donuts. The official Walk starts at 10:00 am. The walk around Lake Quannapowitt is an easy, flat 3-miles. Lunch will be waiting back at the base at around Noon thanks to Chick-fil-A (Burlington Mall) and Stop&Shop, and the PEER Teens will be hosting recreation events for the whole family. We’ll wrap up by 2:00 pm. Come and go as your schedule permits.
- Parking: There’s plenty of parking behind First Congregational Church and at our PEER Servants office.
- What to Bring: Lawn Chairs, Umbrella, and a desire to have a great time!
