Called To Mimic God
Key Verse
“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are His dear children.” Ephesians 5:1 (NLT)
When I hear the word mimic, what comes to mind is the idea of being fully in tune, or at least striving to be fully in tune with someone. In this case, that Someone is God.
There’s a certain peace that comes with that. All the worries, anxiety, and the pressure to control everything begin to fade. Why? Because when I mimic God, I let go of trying to control everything on my own. I let go and truly let God. It becomes less about me figuring stuff and more about following Him step by step.
How do I do that? For me, it begins with knowing who God is and reminding myself what His promises are.
How do you get to know someone? Through being close to them, time, and intentional connection. We get to know God through prayer, reading His Word, and surrounding ourselves with a community that is also pursuing Him. The more we spend time with God, the more our hearts become like His. Suddenly, godly habits begin to feel natural. You wake up and find yourself praying without being told. You open your Bible not out of obligation, but out of hunger. You face a hard situation, and instead of panicking, your instinct is to talk to God. You see injustice, and you don’t shy away, you confront it because you know you’re not standing alone.
To mimic Christ is to walk in assurance. It reminds me that I’m not alone, not wandering blindly through life, trying to guess my next move. No, I’m walking with purpose, following clear instructions from the One who sees the end from the beginning.
Everyday as I grow in my relationship with God, I get the confidence to step out boldly and multiply in faith, in impact, and in love. Will you join me on this journey?
