Sisterly Love: A Reflection on Christian Friendship
Happy June, PEER family!
June marks the halfway point of 2026—a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on God’s grace, mercy, and steadfast love throughout the year. What a year it has been! Filled with both highs and lows, joys and challenges, yet through it all, God has remained faithful. For that, I am deeply grateful.
Recently, I was reminded of God’s goodness in a special way as I began a journey to Homa Bay to visit my sister in Christ, Atieno. Together, we traveled to Mombasa, then Tanzania, and finally Zanzibar! What a gift it has been to experience God’s beautiful world together. I continue to marvel at how God places us on different continents, within different cultures and communities, yet unites us as one family in Christ.
Our adventure together has been nothing short of amazing. Filled with delicious food, bursts of laughter, enriching conversations and several “marriage proposals” (hahaha). These precious moments have reminded me how important friends or as I call her, sisters, in the body of Christ are. They are a source of encouragement, wisdom, wonderful stories and above all love.
There is something uniquely beautiful about Christian love. It crosses borders, cultures, languages, and backgrounds. It reflects the heart of God and reminds us that we were never meant to walk alone. Through the relationships He gives us, we experience His care, His encouragement, and His presence in tangible ways.
1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
As we all continue the year, I pray God opens our eyes for opportunities to be good brothers, sisters, friends and neighbors. May our beautiful global family remain connected and devoted in our love to one another.
